Coats

Like a fool I went into UO the other day and, predictably, left with my purse considerably lighter and the proud owner of one- perfect for autumn- parka.
Trying on coats we cant afford. The one Nat's wearing costs £615!

The novelty of a hi-tech phone still hasn't worn off, so I followed the writing on the wall and yes I am wearing sunnies inside. I also feel I should add that I AM wearing clothes under the coat!

Autumn 2012 Wish List

After a lovely few weekends (with only a smattering of rain) it looks as if Autumn has arrived. I am really excited about this as autumn and winter as they are my favorite seasons. Already I have seen a million beautiful things. I find dressing for the cold much more interesting than dressing for Summer, there's much more to it and I prefer the colours involved.

To kick things off these are the shoes that are currently the objects of my desire. Sadly they are WAY out of my budget (£145!), it will probably be Spring before I can afford them.
They remind me of a pair Isabel Marant Dicker boots. I found a brilliant blog discussing ankle boots of this ilk that suggest some fabulous substitutes.

As for troose...
These Olive bad boys will set you back £38 (or £34.20 if you happen to have a student card to hand) and you can find them in Topshop. They look a little bit like a darker version of the Givenchy and at only a smidge of the designer price tag.

On to tops...
I am a sucker for a collar less shirt, you can find this one in the blokes section at Hennes for a mere £19.99. It comes in White too.

Jumpers! I reserve a special place in my heart for a really tasty woolen jumper. There are so many out there to be had but this one from Mango gets my vote. I have also seen a couple in Hennes (men's wear again) that look pretty cosy.
This one comes in various colours (including White and Mustard) and is currently in the sale at £9.99.

Also this Merino number from UniQlo, £19.90 in Dark Grey
Or this lambs wool one, also from UniQlo at a mere £14.90!

As for coats I am, as yet, undecided. I am tempted by the idea of a parka preferably with a sheepskin lining. Alternatively something Navy with buckles (old faithful).

Black, White & Grey

the lovely sunny weather we have been enjoying of late has, once again, turned to grey autumnal rain so its back on with the jumpers. fingers crossed the sun decides to grace us with its presence a few more times before winter sets in.
All H&M!
I booked some time off to go and visit my parents only to realize that my graphics course (which I have been banging on about for the last few months) starts whilst I'm out of the country. Fool! So now I have to change my flights (and pay for the pleasure). Lesson learned: ALWAYS check your diary before you spend bunce on flights!

Face Paint

Well I have well and truly fallen off the draw-a-picture-a-day wagon. I haven't done any drawing since the weekend before last weekend! Must do better.
Another hi-top outfit. Jumper dress, American Apparel. Gold Hoops (naturally).
In other news I found an old and mostly used up box of Laura Mercier Secret Camoflage Conceler. I had forgotten how great it is. I don't usually ware a lot of make up and this one perfect. You can use it as a concealer or as a light foundation- Lovely! Sadly mine is pretty much gone now and the bastard costs £23!
Another product that I'd love to get m y hands on is Mac's Casual Colour in 'Weekend Get Away', Phee and popped into Mac last week and tried it out and its pretty gorge. Again it doesn't come cheap at £17.50 a pop, though I suppose its sort of like 2 products in one (blusher and lippy) so technically it's £8.75 a product...

As you can see I am attempting to justify the purchase of these two lovelies, despite my best efforts however there's no getting away from the fact that combined they cost £42.50 and justifying that on my measly income is neigh on impossible. Sad Times.

Hoops and Hi-tops

In typical style I talked way too much and way too fast during my interview yesterday. I'm hoping it came across as Eager or nervous (in an eager way), and not mental and narcissistic. I will know in 2 weeks, finger and toes crossed.

I went out for a couple of drinks for a friends birthday last night. The hi-tops got another outing, this time with tights...

The hoops were in action yet again.

Have a lovely weekend!

Crunch Time

I have the interview for my Graphics course today- little bit nervous.

What to wear?! Originally I thought it was best to go in what I felt most comfortable with, I ran this past a few people at work. Long story short: not a plan. This is mostly due to the fact that what I feel most comfortable in is jeans, Breton and trainers. Dang.

In the end I opted for this:
Jeans, H&M, £9.99. Shirt, Zara, c.£23. Cardi, Mango, £16.99. Ballet Pumps, H&M, gift.
A shirt (it is an interview after all), a cardigan (yes, its the pink one I was waffling on about a couple of posts ago), Jeans (I know I know, but they're black so they're sort of smart...) and ballet pumps (well at least they're not trainers).

I thought I'd spice things up a bit with some jewelery, again I kept things fairly conservative. just 2 rings, and hoops, of course, every girl needs a pair of gold hooped earrings!

Wish me luck! I'll let you know how I get on...

Hi Tops

I managed to get my hands on a pair of Black suede Nike Blazers this weekend!

Regular followers will know that I have been lusting after these beauts for some time and, after being told by several shops that not a single pair was available in my size in the whole of Europe, my hopes of finding a pair were not high. Having purchased a pair I am now unsure how to wear them...

My main beef is that I don't have legs that go on till next week. The beloved hi tops do have a tendency to cut off your leg at a point that makes it look a bit chunky. This is how I'm wearing them today with stone wash jeans, a loose fit black top, and of course the fabled hi-tops.
Top, H&M, £6.99. Jeans, H&M, c.£9.99. Shoes, Nike, £66.99.
 How do you wear yours?

Shoes...

I have had my eye on a pair of minty green (I believe they have officially been christened Gossamer Green) Vans for some time now. The thing is I don’t think they are as nice, or as versatile, as my trusty blues. However the old faithfuls are looking decidedly dilapidated and I am in need of a new pair of Shoobes, and it seems a bit dull to buy the same pair again.

I am also tempted by high-tops. Several pairs have caught my eye ranging from a basic plain white to Nike IDs (the kids versions as they are more snazy) via a rather lovely liberty print pair. I’m only slightly concerned that the high top lovin’ was inspired by a group of bright young things I spotted on the beach last week. They reminded me of my teen years… whilst I am still young I am no longer a teen and perhaps they’re not the shoe for me?
Thing is high tops are something of a statement and at £60 odd a pop are they really a good investment?

In other news I need a pair of sandals. Phee and I are off to France in May and seeing as I haven’t bought a pair since 2007 I feel a new set are justified. Last year I toyed with the idea of a pair of sensible Clarks but couldn’t afford them. In the end I opted for some boots instead (buying winter shoes in Summer isn’t as mad as it sounds- you can usually pick up a bangin’ bargain) which has resulted in my current lack of summer footwear.
ANYWAY there is a pretty pair in Topshop for £18, which seems like a fair exchange though I doubt they will see many Summers…
As always, Love to hear your comments and opinions so keep 'em coming. Love to all xXx

Jeans and Sandals are Topshop, £40 and £18. Ballet Pumps are Hennes £7.99

Uncle Sam's Braces

I preface this post by saying that Brighton is 'supposedly' a hub of individuality where, in theory, people feel able to look and act the way they like. On the strength of this I donned my-faux- Henry Holland tights with joy. Imitations they may be but they are not so cheap and tacky as to warrant the dirty looks thrown their way on my walk into town...you'd think I had done something terrible!
Shirt, River Island. Cardi, TopShop, £20. Shorts, TopShop (customized). Tights, NewLook, £4.99. Shoes, Primark.
Popped on a bit of ACDC- forgotten musical friend of my youth.
OK so maybe I look a little risque with my coat on... but still!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend- off in search of a hearty roast now- back soon xXx

Red Lippy & A Velvet Dress

I have been getting into longer skirts recently (perhaps a sign of my age :/... who knows). Ma gave me this dress a few Christmases ago and it really deserves to be worn more,  it sort of reminds me of Eva Green's velvet dress in The Dreamers (a favorite film in The Penthouse household).

Whapped out the red lippy, wish I'd worn a beret too now- next time!
Check out The Penthouse 'garden'. I'm thinking cider and a rooftop picnic or two come Summer.

Boots or Brogues?

Following on from previous posts concerning boots, this is an outfit that I have always worn with brogues in the past. I tried it our with boots today (its cold by the sea). Not sure If I like the overall effect...
With Brogues...
With Boots...
All this leads me to think that I definitely need to get me some Chelsea boots. So the H&M ones are perhaps a tad pricey for plastic shoes but I found these which are real leather and only £10! Yes they are actual riding boots and a tad on the shiny side but for a tenner... I don't know! What do you reckon?
