Yummy Mummies, I salute you!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

I hope you gave/received something lovely today. I gave my mum a box of her favourite truffles- working in a chocolate shop definitely has its advantages. During a quiet moment I put together a truffle box full of Salted Caramel truffles, interspersed with a selection of other truffles I thought she would like. Then tied it all up with some spring-time ribbons, and finished it off with a label full of love.

A couple of weeks ago Phee came up with the idea of making bunting out of photographs. Its so simple, looks great, and means you can make a sweet and personal gift, that works as decoration too. All you need is a pair of pinking shears, some ribbon and a selection of photos.

Here are a few I'm thinking of using:
(excuse the quality of some of these, they were taken in the 80s when cameras weren't what they are today).

One of my favourite ad campaigns of all time is the Comptoir des Cotonniers Mothers & Daughters.

I love how the looks on the mums faces when the look at their girls, and the way they look like each other.

Me and Grandmum (My Great Grandmother)

Mum and Grandmum.
I come from a long line of women (the women in my family seem to go on for ever. the men...not so much). I am the fourth in a living generation, and the oldest yet to have children...

Mother's Day read: Toni Morrison's Beloved

Something to watch with your Mum:

Chocolat, adapted from Joanne Harris' novel of the same name. Vianne and Anouk always reminded me of myself and my mother.

Here are a couple of stills from the film.

Have a Fantastic Mother's Day everyone! X

  1. This is such a sweet post!! I love those photographs of you and your mom/grandma. So cute! Also, that ad campaign is brilliant. I actually just finished reading Beloved not too long ago, & Chocolat is an excellent movie! You've made me want to watch it again. xx

In fact I may have to do a outfit post based on it... not sure I have the right stuff, a shopping trip may be in order also... x
